Edgewood Healthcare Center holds drive-thru bake sale
RAPID CITY, S.D. — To start off the summer and celebrate the longest day of the year, the Edgewood Healthcare Center hosted a bake sale – drive thru style.
Annually, Edgewood hosts a related gathering for residents, and this year chose to do so in the form of a community bake sale. Residents and staff put together tasty baked goods for sale.
“We always try and do some type of an activity to gain the awareness of Alzheimer’s (Disease),” said Michelle Krueger, the Executive Director of the Edgewood Healthcare Center in Rapid City and Spearfish. “It’s our hopes that there is a day that we find a cure, but until then, my team and I will totally gather ourselves and embrace the fact that we need to do something, and we’re trying to gain awareness in the community as well.”
The event was donation only, and all proceeds will be donated to the Alzheimer’s association.
While everyone was asked to practice social distancing, Edgewood Assisted and Independent Living is now beginning to open its doors to visitors. Many guests were able to see their loved ones.
