How are you staying cool?
RAPID CITY, S.D. — With the sun high on Saturday, outdoor activities could be seen everywhere.
Whether an aquatic undertaking or just relaxation, there was one common denominator in making the best of Saturday.
“I’m just staying in the shade, doing some fishing,” said Rapid City resident, Michael Manning.
“I’m just reading and relaxing, spending time in the shade,” said Rapid City resident, Juliet Heltibridle. “Definitely trying to cool off with the breeze.”
South Dakota’s Department of Public Safety shared a graphic Saturday, highlighting ways to stay safe in the heat and among the various tips, wearing a hat or the use of an umbrella to create a protective shield against the sun. For some, being outdoors means being able to social distance with little effort.
“It’s definitely why I came to this area of the park because there wasn’t too many people here.”

Cody says he loves the game and is glad his friends were able to come out and play.
As for his friends, they only had one thing to say:
“Happy birthday, cody.”
