Six top Air Force officials to step down prior to Biden inauguration
WASHINGTON — Air Force Secretary Barbara Barrett, along with five other top Air Force officials, will step down from their roles on January 19, one day prior to President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. Barrett became the fourth woman to be the top civilian leading the Air Force after her confirmation in October 2019.
Also leaving: Will Roper, Assistant Secretary for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics; acting Undersecretary Shon Manasco; Comptroller John Roth; General Counsel Thomas Ayres; and John Henderson, Assistant Secretary of Installations, Environment, and Energy.
The incoming administration has not announced yet who would fill those top roles. Politically-appointed officials do typically step-down during a changeover between administrations.
